More than 60 percent of those on Social Security in Alaska — and more than 1.4 million nationwide — are getting cheated out of their full benefits by the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP).

These are retired school teachers, first responders, and other civil servants. They may have had no idea throughout their careers that they wouldn’t be getting their full Social Security benefits when they retired.

And we need to stand up for them!

The Windfall Elimination Provision of Social Security, or WEP, is taking an average of almost $400 a month from more than 1.4 million seniors. It’s unfair, it’s unacceptable, and Congress should fix it immediately.
